Description This ca. 1900 German 3/4 carved back bass has a fine jazz voice. It is slightly larger than the usual shop size 3/4 size basses that we see by the 1930s. It was made from healthy woods, medium grain spruce for the top plate and mild figured maple for the ribs, back plate, and neck. The tuning machines are in good repair and have been well maintained. Dimensions are:Top length 43 1/4″, Upper bout width 20 1/2″, Middle bout width 14 3/4″, Lower bout width 25 7/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/4″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/8″, Rib depth at neck joint6 7/8″, String length 41 7/8″. Strung with Spirocore strings. A solid jazz performer with some professional level repairs in its long life in the orchestra. A good choice for the the jazz player on a budget under $10,000.
