Description This 2006 Lemur Wilfer-made “Gentleman Jazz” is a 7/8 size carved back bass with a 42″ string length. This bass has recently undergone a top regraduation and bass bar remodeling by ace doublebass luthier, Tristan Cole-Falek of Goleta, California. The spruce top plate has bold and well-defined grain and some attractive “hazelfichte” (bearclaw figure) that produces a complex, full, and rich large orchestral or jazz presence.. The well-matched lightly figured maple ribs and back plate have very colorful tap tones that contribute to the overall tonal colors of this bass. The plain figured maple neck has been fit with a nicely presented engraved set of halfplate tuning machines with matte finished accents. The medium brown oil varnish finish has a nicely underststed look. The dimensions are: Top length 45″, Upper bout width 20 1/2″, Middle bout width 15″, Lower bout width 27″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 8 1/4″, Rib depth at neck joint 6 3/4″, String length 42″. This well cared for bass has needed no repairs and none are suggested. It has a fine orchestral voice and can ably double in jazz settings. Currently strung with Spirocore Orchestra gauge strings, this instrument also responds quite well to Pirastro Passione or Flexocore Deluxe strings. With cover. Special Spring sale price: $12,000
