Description This modified 1970s German 3/4 carved back bass has been improved with a neck and fingerboard replacement, a top regraduation, a bass bar remodeling, and a tailpiece saddle extension. The European spruce top has medium to fine grain width and good grain definition. The European maple ribs and back plate are of medium density and reveal complex tap tones. The replacement neck is of seasoned and moderately dense maple, fit with single unit brass tuning machines. The replacement fingerboard is of aged, seasoned African ebony. The bridge is a Despiau Superior single tree that has been fit with smooth turning adjusters. The original ebony tailpiece is of medium weight and density. The ebony enlarged tailpiece saddle extension is a nice design. The older adjustable endpin features a 1/2 aluminum rod. The antiqued red lacquer finish is very striking. The matching replacement neck finish is spirit varnish.
