Description This ca. mid-1950s 3/4 carved back bass has received a number of upgrades and repairs that make it a great performance jazz instrument. The spruce top shows fine, even grain at the center join and slightly wider grain at the edges. The fairly plain maple ribs and back plate are healthy, though the ribs have a few repaired cracks. The neck shows a little more figure. It has a pegbox repair that is solid and stable. The tuning machines have been upgraded to Rubner single units with “hammered iron” handles. The ebony fingerboard has a healthy thickness. The Wein bridge has added adjusters and has a height of 6 1/2″. The tailpiece saddle extension helps to give this bass and easy, supple feel with Spirocore weich strings. The voice is rich and dark. Dimensions are: Top length 42 1/2″, Upper bout width 19 7/8″, Middle bout width 14 3/8″, Lower bout width 25 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/4″, Rib depth at upper bout 7″, Rib depth at neck. 6 3/8″, String length 41 7/8″. A fine performance jazz bass with lots of tonal character. With cover. Special Spring Sale discount price: $8950
