Description This ca. 1920s German 3/4 flatback is a fine combination jazz pizz and arco instrument. The character of grain is exceptional, with well-defined grain at the center join and widening out just a little at the edges. The plain figure ribs, back, and neck are healthy with some repaired cracks. The original hatpeg tuning machines turn smoothly and precisely. The adjustable endpin has a 10mm steel rod. At some point a tapered wedge was inserted underneath the replacement finger for more bridge height. This bass gave the previous owner, a local professional, several decades of service. Dimensions are: Top length 43 1/4″, Upper bout width 19 5/8″, Middle bout width 14″, Lower bout width 25 7/8″, Rib depth at tail 7 5/8″, Rib depth at upper bout 7 1/4″, Rib depth at neck 5 1/2″, String length 41 7/8″, Bridge height 6 5/8″. A nimble jazz instrument with lots of character. Currently strung with Spirocore weich strings. With cover. Special Spring Sale discount price: $8975
