Description This large 3/4 German flatback was used by the former owner for a task that it was ideally suited for, playing vintage jazz on the deck of a riverboat. It was great “bone structure” and it pwerful, projective voice really packs a wallop for setting the harmonic foundation in a vintage jazz ensemble. Along with the sturdy construction, the Hammond-Ashley conversion from blockless to standard mortice neck attachment was performed exceptionally well. The bridge height is 7″ in the new setup. When the conversion was done, a thorough restoration was performed, so all off the collected cracks and small injuries were attended to. Dimensions are: Top length 43 1/2″, Upper bout width 20 3/8″, Middle bout width 14 1/8″, Lower bout width 25 5/8″, Rib depth at tail 7 7/8″, Rib depth at upper bout 7 7/8″, Rib depth at neck 6 7/8″, String length 42 7/8″. The stalwart of the vintage jazz band has a very strong, projective voice. The bass is currently strung with Pirastro Evah Pirazzi weich strings for a gut-like feel and response. With cover.
