VV Witch Mark Dish

A porcelain witch mark dish with a hand-painted double V design and edge detailing. Our witch mark dishes are based on medieval protection symbols that are found carved into old churches and buildings from the medieval period until the early nineteenth century. These symbols are known as witch marks. Their purpose is to ward off evil spirits by trapping demons in the lines of the symbol.   Our porcelain dishes are hand-painted by jewellery designer and artist Melissa Chen and are signed with her initials and year of creation. Because they are hand-painted, each dish is a unique work of art.
